Things No One Tells You About Marriage
January 2, 2009 by MOM · Leave a Comment
Like a first vacation to Waikiki Hawaii and the destruction of the images in your mind collected from a lifetime of fantasizing about the lush tropical Hawaiian Islands…
Marriage can also deal a death blow to many long held fantasies of what married life would be like.
There’s a great article about marriage and the 7 things no one told you about it that offers some direct viewpoints and useful suggestions. For the full article visit:
Seven Things No One Tells You About Marriage
Here are some of the highlights:
1. You will look at the person lying next to you and wonder, Is this it? Forever? When you get married, you think that as long as you pick the right guy — your soul mate — you’ll be happy together until death do you part. Then you wake up one day and think to yourself, “This is so not what I signed up for.”
2. You’ll work harder than you ever imagined. Early on, when people say, “Marriage takes work,” you assume “work” means being patient when he forgets to put down the toilet seat. In your naivete, you think that you will struggle to accommodate some annoying habit, like persistent knuckle cracking or flatulence.
3. You will sometimes go to bed mad (and maybe even wake up madder). Whoever decided to tell newlyweds “Never go to bed angry” doesn’t know what it’s like inside a bedroom where tears and accusations fly as one spouse talks the other into a woozy stupor until night meets the dawn. If this scenario sounds familiar, I’ve got three words for you: Sleep on it.

January 2, 2009 by MOM · Leave a Comment
Apparently there are women who want a baby so badly that they’re buying dolls that look just like real babies, less the crying and dirty diapers. This video on ABC News is really interesting with one 49 year old wannabe mom courageously giving the interview insight into why she lives with her dolls fantasizing they are real.

Breastfeeding to lose weight?
December 19, 2008 by MOM · Leave a Comment
Hate to bring you bad news, but it doesn’t work that way according to Dr. Joan Meek, a pediatrician and author of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ new mother’s guide to breastfeeding. She recently told MSNBC that when it comes to burning calories breastfeeding “It’s really how much total breast milk the baby takes in over the period of the day. The average mom will make about 24 to 28 ounces of breast milk a day. It takes about 500 calories to make that much milk. Some of those calories come from fat stored during the pregnancy or previously, and some come from the mother’s daily nutrition.” However! “We don’t recommend women significantly reduce calories during breastfeeding. It’s more helpful to increase exercise. Most women will actually lose weight in spite of what they’re eating. Many feel they can practically eat anything they want, which is unlike any other time in life! Enjoy it!”

Bob and Michelle Duggar gave birth to their 18th child yesterday (Dec 18th), a girl named Jordyn-Grace Makiya Duggar. They now have 8 daughters and 10 sons and dad says “We both would love to have more”. Clearly they have mastered the art of having a lot of children and raising them in an orderly fashion. And not that it matters, but they are also debt-free.
How do they do it? They will share that with you in their book and their new TV show on The Learning Channel.

Looking for Moms for the ABC TV Wife Swap Show
December 1, 2008 by MOM · Leave a Comment
Calling all career moms who are passionate about their careers and families. I received a plea for help from the casting director of the ABC’s hit show Wife Swap. They are currently hoping to cast a Mom who is passionate about her career and her family.
They would like to showcase a “modern, working woman”. Not sure if that means moms without careers aren’t “modern” and I certainly hope they realize ALL moms are WORKING if not modern. Hey Wilma… what say you?
Installing Husband 1.0
November 24, 2008 by MOM · Leave a Comment
Dear Tech Support,
Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a distinct slow down in overall system performance, particularly in the flower and jewelry applications, which operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0. In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as Romance 9.5 and Personal Attention 6.5, and then installed undesirable programs such as: NBA 5.0, NFL 3.0, and Ipod with headphones 4.1. Conversation 8.0 no longer runs and Housecleaning 2.6 simply crashes the system. Please note that I have tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but to no avail. What can I do?
Signed,
DESPERATE

DEAR DESPERATE,
First, keep in mind, Boyfriend 5.0 is an Entertainment Package, while Husband 1.0 is an operating system. Please enter command: ithoughtyoulovedme.html and try to download Tears 6.2 and do not forget to install the Guilt 3.0 update. If that application works as designed, Husband 1.0 should then automatically run the applications Jewelry 2.0 and Flowers 3.5. However, remember, overuse of the above application can cause Husband 1.0 to default to Grumpy Silence 2.5, Happy Hour 7.0 or Beer 6.1. Please note that Beer 6.1 is a very bad program that will download the Farting and Snoring Loudly Beta. Whatever you do, DO NOT under any circumstances install Mother-In-Law 1.0 (it runs a virus in the background that will eventually seize control of all your system resources.) In addition, please do not attempt to reinstall the Boyfriend 5.0-program. These are unsupported applications and will crash Husband 1.0.
In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have limited memory and cannot learn new applications quickly. You might consider buying additional software to improve memory and performance. We recommend: Cooking 3.0 and Hot Lingerie 7.7.
